Wow,
I got really sick. And Yes! it sucked. But I feel better and I'm back.
I got cast in a play, "The Merry Wives of Windsor." I play Host, the Innkeeper. I'm really excited but it goes up in 2 1/2 weeks. Really quick. UGH! But I'm looking forward to digging into a character. I haven't been able to do that in years.
So if your in the area in July, come and see my play.

I've got CRABS!
Well, not me but my house.
Last Saturday, a neighborhood boy brought over some crabs that he collected at the beach. My boys were very excited about them. I really didn't give them a second thought. The boy left and I thought that was the end of it.
At 4:30 in the morning my son, MacGregor, comes into my room and taps me on the shoulder, "Mom, Mom, the crabs have escaped!"
"What? What crabs?"
"The ones Issiah gave us."
"What?" I had no idea that we kept them. I put them to bed and never saw them on their shelf.
Luckily, the crabs were just walking around the shelf.
But last night they escaped again and this time we can't find them. They are walking around my house and I can't do anything about it. My son feels bad because he knows that they are going to die. I explained to him that it really wasn't his fault. The crabs should never of been taken from the beach in the first place. He's just very sad about the whole thing.
My husband and I have decided to get him a turtle instead. I think he can take care of that better than a crab. Plus, I would enjoy a turtle much more than crabs.

What else I've been up too.
Now that I got the tears out, I'll let you know that I have been working hard on my book.
I have been doing some indepth character and world building work. It has been so much fun to dive into my characters and see who they are. I feel that I'm almost to the point of letting them run the story. I still have to work on them but I'm close to that point where you say, "Now I can start."
Right now I'm also working on world building. My world seems huge so I have a lot of work to do yet. I'm deciding on what magic is used and where and when. What creatures and magical objects they encounter. I've invented a new dragon type character that I'm really excited about. I'm diving into that characters world next.
I've been doing a lot of research and reading to help formulate ideas and at times it seems overwhelming. That little voice creeps into my head and says "You can't do this!" My normal reaction has been to say "I've got to try", but last night I heard a quote that is now my new motto: "To say try means that your willing to fail. Just do." In the words of my beloved green mentor, Yoda: "There is no try, only do."
So I am not trying to write a novel anymore, I am writing a novel.

Six years ago today!
I didn't post last week. If you read my earlier post you know that it was a hard week for me. An emotional roller coaster. Today really is no different.
Six years ago today, I buried my son.
Six years ago today was the last time I held him in my arms, kissed his cheek and told him "I love you."
Six years ago today, I watched as they lowered his little white coffin into the ground and watched as they threw dirty on him.
Six years ago today, I walked out of a graveyard leaving my son in his grave.
I hate today.
